Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Victor Sweet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Prince The! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A good leg kick by The. The lands with a slapping head kick. Sweet fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with The, pushing him back against the cage. The pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The connects with a nice looking jab.
The throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The feints and then cracks Sweet's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sweet down. The looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sweet will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. The dips to his left and cracks Sweet with an uppercut! Sweet shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sweet was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sweet is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, The has escaped the position, nice work there. The really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sweet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The struggling a bit here. The tries to buck Sweet off but Sweet is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. The is not content to let Sweet control the position. Sweet taking a breather here. The is trying to get back to half guard. The is trying to control Sweet's posture but Sweet avoids it. Sweet cracks The with a big elbow. Sweet is looking to take a break and control but The is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The wants to control but Sweet postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The tries to buck Sweet off but Sweet is having none of it. Sweet trying to control the position but The is working away. Sweet is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. The looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sweet gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. The is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sweet lets go of the hold and The can pop his arm back in it's socket.
