Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Feivish Hershel! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Austin! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circle momentarily. Austin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Austin dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Austin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hershel. Austin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hershel. Hershel throws a hook but Austin avoids it easily. Hershel swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Austin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hershel takes a jab right on the kisser.
Austin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Austin slips under a jab. Decent striking displayed by Austin there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Austin throws a right hand that Hershel ducks under and follows up with a left that Hershel also avoids with ease. Hershel appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Austin throws out a powerful jab. Austin scores with a decent looking hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hershel takes a shot right to the bread basket. Hershel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Austin napping and manages to drive through into side control! Austin is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Austin stops Hershel from passing to mount. Hershel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Austin keeps working. Hershel working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Austin is looking for a sweep. Hershel trying to control the position but Austin is working away. Hershel passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Austin! Hershel looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Hershel moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Austin has worked his arm free - good work by Austin!
Austin sneaks back into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hershel is trying to control. Austin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Austin is looking to control Hershel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Austin avoid being mounted? Hershel is figuring out what he wants to do next. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Austin is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hershel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Austin manages to avoid it. Austin throws out a counter right but Hershel avoids it with no problem. Shane Austin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Austin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hershel's hands. Austin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hershel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Nice body punch from Austin. Austin lands a really nice looking cross but Hershel seems unphased.
Austin scores with a jab. Hershel acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Hershel doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Hershel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Austin.
Austin connects with a looping right hand.
Hershel on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Austin lands a jab to the nose. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shane Austin dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hershel on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Hershel is looking to clinch but Austin is avoiding it.

Hershel is rocked! Hershel glances at the clock... BAM! Austin nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Hershel crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Hershel is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
