0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seppo Joukahainen! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Mackenzie misses. Joukahainen pushes Mackenzie up against the cage in a clinch. Mackenzie tries to pull guard but Joukahainen holds him up against the cage and eventually Mackenzie drops back down to his feet.
Mackenzie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Joukahainen smiles and moves away.
Mackenzie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Mackenzie wants to control from the top but Joukahainen keeps moving. Mackenzie advances to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mackenzie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Joukahainen sees it coming and defends easily. Joukahainen is looking to control Mackenzie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Joukahainen avoid being mounted? We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Joukahainen can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mackenzie is looking for a kimura but Joukahainen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mackenzie to get the leverage. Mackenzie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mackenzie stalling. Joukahainen won't allow Mackenzie to pass to mount. Joukahainen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mackenzie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Joukahainen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mackenzie yanks on the arm and Joukahainen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mackenzie.
