Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Romero Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Mc Donnagh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Mc Donnagh! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mc Donnagh scores with a punch to the head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Mc Donnagh. Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mc Donnagh counters with a three punch combo that has Gracie backing up. Gracie nods at Mc Donnagh to acknowledge the strikes. Gracie is breathing heavily. Mc Donnagh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively. Gracie appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Mc Donnagh uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mc Donnagh throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mc Donnagh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Mc Donnagh's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gracie postures up.
Mc Donnagh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well. Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Mc Donnagh blocks nicely.

Mc Donnagh pushes down on Gracie's leg and manages to get into half guard. Mc Donnagh wants to free his trapped foot but Gracie is holding on for dear life with his legs. Mc Donnagh is working for a submission of some sort.

Mc Donnagh is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gracie wants to get back to his feet. Mc Donnagh wants to work for an arm triangle but Gracie is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mc Donnagh is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Gracie to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mc Donnagh trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gracie wants to stand but Mc Donnagh is controlling the position. Mc Donnagh drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gracie dives on top into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie trying to control the action but Mc Donnagh is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie working Mc Donnagh over with strikes. Gracie working the head and body with strikes. Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mc Donnagh knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ground and pound from Gracie. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mc Donnagh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mc Donnagh trying to control here.

Gracie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mc Donnagh's guard. Mc Donnagh keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass. Gracie working some strikes from top position. Gracie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gracie won't allow Mc Donnagh to sweep him here. Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mc Donnagh has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Mc Donnagh's legs - danger averted. Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Mc Donnagh. Romero Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mc Donnagh working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mc Donnagh is breathing heavily. Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mc Donnagh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gracie pushing down on Mc Donnagh's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Gracie tries to pass to full mount but Mc Donnagh defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mc Donnagh trying to control here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mc Donnagh is not content to let Gracie control the position. Mc Donnagh is trying to get back to full guard. Gracie trying to control from half guard but Mc Donnagh is working away.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Romero Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mc Donnagh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Mc Donnagh. Those never looked like landing. Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mc Donnagh avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Romero Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mc Donnagh throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range. Mc Donnagh throws a right and a left that both miss. Mc Donnagh works over Gracie's head and body with a nice combination. Mc Donnagh connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Mc Donnagh closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mc Donnagh sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Mc Donnagh lands a slapping body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mc Donnagh throws a series of strikes that have Gracie backpedaling.

Mc Donnagh lands with a shot to the body. Mc Donnagh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mc Donnagh looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well. Mc Donnagh lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gracie at a distance.

Johnny Mc Donnagh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Danga de danga de dang - Mc Donnagh scores with a four punch combination! Johnny Mc Donnagh seems to be getting the better of the standup. Mc Donnagh shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gracie eats them both and turns towards Mc Donnagh to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Romero Gracie has been cut. Mc Donnagh digs a good hook to Gracie's body.

Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mc Donnagh finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head. Gracie misses with a takedown and Mc Donnagh counters with a left right combination that sends Gracie crashing to the mat - Mc Donnagh wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Gracie out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
