Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drederick Tatum! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Bryant! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tatum misses with a wild combination.
Bryant closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tatum circles away. Some wild striking there from Tatum.
Tatum throws a right and a left that Bryant avoids nicely. Bryant slips a jab and a cross from Tatum.
Drederick Tatum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tatum swats away the attempt to clinch by Bryant. Bryant misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Tatum lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bryant at a distance.
Bryant uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tatum. Tatum throws a shot from downtown. Bryant moves away and avoids it. Tatum cracks Bryant with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bryant looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Tatum finish him?
Bryant is rocked!
It looks like AJ Bryant has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tatum lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bryant will feel that in the morning. Bryant is still on wobbly legs! Can Tatum finish him? Bryant looks gassed! Tatum fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bryant. Tatum misses with a series of wild punches.
Bryant seems to have recovered his senses. Tatum throws a nice looking combination but Bryant bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tatum looks to land a combination but Bryant avoids it well. Tatum pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bryant shoots in looking for a takedown. Tatum tries to sprawl out of it but Bryant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tatum manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Drederick Tatum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Bryant. Tatum looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bryant is trying desperately to land a takedown but Tatum is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Bryant. Tatum connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Bryant! He's out on his feet! Tatum rushes in and drops Bryant with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Drederick Tatum! Drederick Tatum retains his light heavyweight title!
