PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacare Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Du Vale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jacare Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marc Du Vale!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Du Vale was covering up waiting for the punch and Romero finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Romero is looking to work some ground and pound but Du Vale has wrist control.
Romero showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Romero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Romero postures up in Du Vale's guard and throws a big left but Du Vale blocks it.
Du Vale has momentary wrist control but Romero slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Romero throws a big elbow that misses.
Romero controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Romero gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Du Vale scores with a jab to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Du Vale, right into the meat.
Marc Du Vale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Romero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Du Vale to score with a decent uppercut.
Du Vale throws a nice inside leg kick.

Romero gets a clinch.
Du Vale is trying to break free.
Romero is trying to pull guard but Du Vale has him pressed against the cage.

Romero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Du Vale instigates a clinch.
Romero keeps control of Du Vale as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Romero misses with a knee to the head.
Du Vale stops a takedown attempt from Romero.
Romero drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Du Vale gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacare Romero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Romero tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Romero jumps guard but Du Vale stands there with Romero around his waist. Romero gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Romero tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Du Vale smiles and moves away.

Romero drives through with a takedown into Du Vale's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Romero trying to control the position from guard on top but Du Vale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Romero seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Du Vale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Romero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Du Vale preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Romero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Romero accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Romero gets to his feet - Du Vale follows without any prompting.
Du Vale tries to clinch but Romero is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Du Vale fails in his attempt to clinch.
Du Vale's corner calls for a 1-2. Du Vale obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Romero keeps the fight on the outside.
Du Vale fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Romero.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacare Romero dominated that round.
That's time! Romero's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Romero.

Romero is working to tighten his grip on Du Vale's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Du Vale has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Romero is really squeezing tight and eventually Du Vale passes out! Romero breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jacare Romero!
