Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cowl Hefernon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Silva!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hefernon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
Hefernon rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.
Hefernon using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Silva has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A short right from Silva on the inside.
A right handed body shot lands from Silva.
Silva gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hefernon regains guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hefernon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Silva works over Hefernon with some ground and pound from guard.
Hefernon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Silva lands a couple of elbows.
Hefernon wants to sweep but no luck.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Hefernon is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hefernon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hefernon is tightening it up a little... Silva has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Silva reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Silva taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hefernon!
