Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Truman Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Truman Petersen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Truman Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Dean!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dean clinches.
Dean tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dean effectively controlling the action here.
Dean displaying some good clinch control by pressing Petersen up against the cage.
Dean just leaning against Petersen, taking a breather.

Dean pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Petersen works over Dean with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean controlling the position.
Dean wants to stand up but Petersen is controlling him.
Petersen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Petersen looking to sit in guard and control but Dean gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dean tries to free his leg and advance position but Petersen is retaining full guard.

Dean prevents Petersen from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dean wants to control from the top but Petersen keeps moving.

Dean is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dean gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dean wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dean dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Dean wants to break free but Petersen has control.
Dean drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Petersen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Petersen is looking to break free of the clinch but Dean has double underhooks.

Dean is looking for a takedown.
Truman Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Dean.

Petersen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt.
Petersen misses with a wild body shot.
And Dean tries to counter it with a takedown but Petersen pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Petersen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dean thinking.

Petersen is trying to break the clinch but Dean is controlling him.

Petersen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Petersen lands an overhand right.

Petersen fails with the takedown.
Dean fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Petersen avoids it really well and circles away.
Petersen swings for the body but Dean moves out of range.
A countering left hand to the body from Dean misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Petersen.
Petersen sets himself, and Dean steps forward looking for the clinch! Petersen avoids it this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dean paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Petersen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dean's waist but Dean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Petersen off to one side.
Dean goes for a double leg but Petersen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Petersen continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Dean dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Petersen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dean, pushing him back against the cage.
Petersen has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dean prevents Petersen from breaking the clinch.
Petersen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dean tries a knee to the head but Petersen blocks it.
Petersen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dean has him pressed against the cage.
Dean keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Petersen's efforts to push away.

Dean shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Petersen as he avoids it easily.

Petersen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Petersen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dean.
A head kick misses from Petersen.
Petersen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dean moves away.

Petersen gets tackled into the cage by Dean. Dean maintains the clinch.

Dean throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Petersen's waist but Petersen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dean off to one side.
Dean swats away the attempt to clinch by Petersen.

Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dean swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dean tries to counter with a clinch but Petersen shakes him off and moves away.
Dean avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Petersen tries to clinch up but Dean circles away and keeps his distance.
Dean is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Petersen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dean moves away.
Truman Petersen is winning the standup battle so far.
Petersen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dean manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Petersen.
The fight stays on the outside here - Petersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Petersen is looking to clinch but Dean is avoiding it.

and Dean counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Petersen tries to work over Dean's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Dean scores a nice knee to the body.
Dean has Petersen pushed against the cage.
Petersen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dean smiles and moves away.

Sam Dean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Petersen stuffs the takedown attempt from Dean. Dean gets slowly back to his feet.
Truman Petersen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petersen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Petersen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dean paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Petersen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dean takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Petersen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dean avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Petersen misses with a wild combination.
Dean now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Dean doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Petersen lands a head kick. Dean smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Dean rushes Petersen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dean keeps control of Petersen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Petersen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Dean has closed the distance and engaged Petersen in a clinch.
Petersen wants to break the clinch but can't.
Petersen is trying to push Dean away but Dean has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Petersen is trying to force a seperation but Dean has the dominant position.
Petersen gets underhooks to prevent Dean's takedown attempt.
Petersen is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dean is defending well for now.
Petersen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Petersen wants to break free but Dean has control.
Dean has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Petersen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Truman Petersen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sam Dean is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Petersen is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Truman Petersen showed his dominance in that final round.
