Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rey Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Bean! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bean misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
It looked like Johnson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Bean tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bean swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bean throws a leg kick and Johnson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Bean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bean takes a swing at Johnson's ribcage but misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bean misses with a jab, cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bean connects with a leg kick. Johnson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Bean looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range. Good leg kick by Bean there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bean keeps the fight on the outside. Bean with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bean looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Tom Bean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bean throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Johnson's head. The fighters circle momentarily. Bean darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Bean thumps Johnson with a low kick. Johnson moves in looking to clinch but Bean pushes him off. Johnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Bean throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Johnson crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Tom Bean!
