Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eddy Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Sheppards!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Sheppards misses the target.
Edwards cracks Sheppards with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Edwards closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sheppards circles away.
A jab lands there for Edwards.
Edwards takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Edwards has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Beauty School in the buildup to the fight.

Edwards closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sheppards did well to prevent Edwards getting side control.
Edwards prevents Sheppards from improving his position.
Sheppards has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Edwards looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sheppards is pressing down on Edwards's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sheppards is looking for a triangle here but Edwards uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Sheppards struggling a bit here.
Edwards throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sheppards works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Edwards throws a strike but Sheppards avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sheppards looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sheppards lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sheppards wants to control from the top but Edwards keeps moving.
Sheppards trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Edwards manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Edwards scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Edwards postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sheppards is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Edwards, into his guard.
Sheppards wants to control from the top but Edwards keeps moving.

Edwards looking for a sweep. Not yet Edwards, not yet.
Sheppards engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Sheppards sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Edwards doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Sheppards paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Edwards - great work!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Eddy Edwards!
Eddy Edwards was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
