Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hagen Germanicus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Germanicus has chosen Now We Are Free as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Germanicus walks into a jab.
It looks like Hagen Germanicus has been cut.
Germanicus has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Barnett looks to score with a jab to the body but Germanicus is just out of range.
Barnett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Germanicus.

Barnett changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Germanicus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've been hearing good reports from Barnett's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Barnett.
