Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gus Sargent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brock Lesnar looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gus Sargent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar throws a head kick that misses.

Sargent tries to sprawl but Lesnar drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sargent is trying to stand back up but Lesnar is controlling him
Sargent wants to improve his position but Lesnar is controlling well.

Sargent really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sargent trying to hold on to Lesnar's head to control him but Lesnar postures up.
Sargent wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sargent is refusing to be controlled, as Lesnar sits in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sargent fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar avoids it really well and circles away.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Sargent.
Sargent misses with a two punch combination.

Lesnar drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lesnar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Sargent uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Lesnar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sargent's guard.

Sargent manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sargent is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Lesnar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sargent is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lesnar to the mat. Lesnar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Sargent might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sargent wants to pass the guard but Lesnar is keeping the position.

Lesnar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sargent defends it easily.
Lesnar looks winded!
Lesnar looking for a sweep. Not yet Lesnar, not yet.
Sargent won't allow Lesnar to get back to his feet.
Lesnar keeping moving, preventing Sargent from controlling successfully.
Sargent working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sargent accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sargent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sargent. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lesnar has his foot on Sargent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sargent works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Sargent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sargent distracts Lesnar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Sargent stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Sargent displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lesnar throws out the jab.

Sargent pushes Lesnar off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sargent shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gus Sargent. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sargent drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lesnar tries to buck Sargent off but Sargent is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gus Sargent will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sargent shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar shows good takedown defense.
Sargent feints a jab promting Lesnar to slip. Sargent then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lesnar slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Lesnar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sargent tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lesnar is in Sargent's guard.

Lesnar gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sargent tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lesnar defends well and Sargent ends up having to push Lesnar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lesnar lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

and Lesnar counters by clinching up.

Lesnar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sargent keeps working.

Sargent is trying to control Lesnar's posture but Lesnar avoids it.
Sargent wants to get back to his feet but Lesnar drags him back down.

Lesnar is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sargent has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sargent is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lesnar's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Lesnar trying to control the action but Sargent is working from the bottom.
Sargent is trying to stand up here but Lesnar is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sargent has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lesnar is on him like a limpet, forcing Sargent back against the cage.
Sargent jumps guard but Lesnar turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Sargent jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lesnar walks away with a smile on his face. Sargent gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Lesnar shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lesnar is trying to control the action in half guard but Sargent is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Lesnar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sargent is looking to stand up but Lesnar isn't so interested in that idea.
Lesnar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lesnar has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sargent to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lesnar is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sargent pulls down on the head and he's put Lesnar to sleep! This one is all over!
