Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Pickton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haigh comes to the cage accompanied by Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against . John Haigh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haigh fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pickton on the side of the head.
Pickton ducks under a wild hook from Haigh.
Haigh tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pickton was well out of range. Poor timing from Haigh.
A head kick by Haigh misses
and Pickton makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Haigh really felt that one!
Haigh tries to keep at a distance but Pickton has taken the fight into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pickton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Haigh blocks an uppercut.
Pickton lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Haigh backwards.
Haigh tries to break the clinch but Pickton is controlling the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pickton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Haigh manages to get himself to full guard.

That's time! Haigh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Crunch! Pickton slams his shin into Haigh's torso.
Haigh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pickton lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Pickton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Pickton enables Haigh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pickton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haigh goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pickton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Haigh but great work by Pickton.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Haigh will probably get the nod.

Pickton gets through Haigh's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Haigh shoots for a double leg takedown but Pickton sprawls well. He's pushed Haigh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pickton connects with a nice short shot to Haigh's temple.
Pickton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haigh keeps working.

Pickton cracks Haigh with a solid left hand.
Haigh working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pickton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pickton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
John Haigh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Haigh.
I think Haigh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
