Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Reynolds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marlon Ever! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ever thuds his right hand into Reynolds's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Reynolds fails to land with a series of punches.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Reynolds. Ever walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Reynolds walks into a left hand. Reynolds lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Marlon Ever has been cut. Reynolds moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Reynolds goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Ever rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reynolds moves out of range and avoids them all easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ever sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Reynolds scores with a shot to the body.
A solid body kick from Reynolds. Reynolds lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ever will feel that in the morning. Ever sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Ever looks winded! Reynolds throws a leg kick which misses Ever's front leg but catches the back leg as Ever tries to avoid it. Reynolds lands with a nice body kick. Ever takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Ever tries to bum rush Reynolds with a series of wild strikes but Reynolds uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ever has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Reynolds finds it's way round the side to connect with Ever's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Ever tumbling to the canvas! Reynolds pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Ever was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Frank Reynolds! Frank Reynolds decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
