Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jackson Munoz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Valdez! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munoz moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Daniel Valdez has been cut. Valdez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Munoz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valdez somewhat. Valdez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Munoz as he jumps to the side. Munoz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Valdez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Munoz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Munoz tries to get out of the position. Valdez slips nicely into half guard. Valdez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Valdez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valdez wants to pass to mount but Munoz is defending the position. Munoz is staying active underneath Valdez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Munoz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Valdez is pressing down on Munoz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Munoz is holding on for now. Valdez is trying to control the action in half guard but Munoz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Munoz tries to kick Valdez off in order to stand up. Valdez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Munoz is trying to get back to his feet. Valdez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Valdez wants to control but Munoz is keeping him busy. Valdez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Munoz has escaped the position, nice work there. Valdez is looking to take a break and control but Munoz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've been informed that Valdez has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Valdez passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Munoz!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Valdez moves to the back. Valdez working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Munoz is doing well to defend. Valdez seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Munoz is forced to tap and this one is over!
