Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bambam Rubble! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Maia! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubble shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maia as he avoids it easily. Maia looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rubble shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maia as he jumps to the side. Rubble doesn't manage to clinch there - Maia circles away.

Maia shoots in for a takedown but Rubble shows good takedown defense. Rubble will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rubble shoots and misses and Maia counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bambam Rubble. That's going to take a lot out of him. A knee to the head by Rubble.

Rubble on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rubble tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Maia just stands there and leans against the cage. Maia is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rubble is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Maia to the mat. Maia regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rubble controlling from the top position. Maia looking for a sweep. Not yet Maia, not yet. Rubble has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubble trying to stand up but can't free himself from Maia's guard. Rubble slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Rubble tries to advance to mount but Maia denies him. Rubble lands an elbow. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rubble just content to control the position. Rubble decides to stand back up. Rubble looks to land a combination but Maia avoids it well. Rubble misses with an uppercut
and Maia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Rubble tries to roll over but Maia keeps him under control. Maia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rubble's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia is tying to control. Rubble wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rubble trying to control here.
Rubble pushes Maia off but Maia dives into side control.
Rubble wants to control but Maia postures up. Maia tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rubble's legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Maia scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rubble flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Maia is stalling here. Rubble is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Maia seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rubble has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Rubble has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Rubble misses with a double jab
and Maia counters by moving into the clinch. Rubble wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Maia lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Rubble takes a knee right on the jaw!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vitor Maia dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Maia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maia lands in his opponent's guard. Rubble lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Maia! Rubble trying to control but Maia is having none of it. Maia is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubble lands a big elbow. Rubble looking to control and managing it successfully. Maia is wriggling around trying to escape.
Maia is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rubble raining down shots from the mount! Maia gets back to half guard. Maia is trying to control but can't.
Rubble has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Maia is squirming around, avoiding Rubble's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubble avoids the attempt from Maia to control. Rubble controlling from the full mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maia is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rubble controlling the pace for now. Rubble is landing with some decent strikes but Maia is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Rubble wants to control the pace but Maia is squirming around nicely. Rubble controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bambam Rubble dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
