PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tiki Toke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Geissen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Toke might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bonecracker- Shocore. Tiki Toke could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shawn Geissen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Tiki Toke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Geissen!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Geissen. Toke shrugs it off though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Toke lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Geissen or not.
Still in the clinch, Toke scores with a nice short uppercut.
Toke misses with a hook from the clinch.

Toke turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Toke manages to end up in side control.
Geissen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Toke looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Geissen manages to get back to half guard.
Geissen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Toke is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Toke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Geissen is just riding it out for now. Toke eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Toke drops back, looking for a kneebar! Geissen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Geissen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Geissen!
Toke is looking to reverse the position.

Geissen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Toke pushes Geissen away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Geissen gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Geissen stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A swing and a miss from Geissen.
Geissen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fighters circling - Geissen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Toke throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Toke punishes Geissen's body with a nice straight punch.
Geissen closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Geissen throws a head kick that Toke semi-blocks.

Geissen throws a hook but Toke blocks it.
Toke takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Toke displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Geissen throws out the jab.
Toke shoots in looking for a takedown. Geissen tries to sprawl out of it but Toke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Geissen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tiki Toke will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Geissen tries to score with a low kick but Toke moves his leg out of the way.

Sloppy strikes from Geissen. Those never looked like landing.
Geissen drops his hands momentarily and Toke takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Geissen throws a good cross that connects.
Toke throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Geissen on the side of the head.
Geissen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Geissen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Toke looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Toke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Geissen swivels and escapes.
Toke ducks under a wild hook from Geissen.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Toke closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Toke lands in his opponent's guard.

Toke drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Geissen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Toke has Geissen in his guard.

Toke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Toke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Toke wants to pass the guard but Geissen is keeping the position.

Toke is looking to work some ground and pound but Geissen has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

I would just about give that final round to Shawn Geissen.
I think Geissen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
