Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Opuss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeffrey Jacobs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brad Opuss! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Opuss avoids the body shot from Jacobs.
Opuss changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jacobs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Check out the look on Opuss's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Opuss working the strikes but Jacobs uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Opuss throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Opuss not landing any meaningful shots this time. Opuss tries to stand and escape but Jacobs is controlling the position. Opuss has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jacobs moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jacobs on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jacobs tries to get out of the position. Opuss trying to control the position from guard on top but Jacobs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Opuss might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jacobs kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Opuss throwing strikes from guard but Jacobs blocks nicely. Jacobs avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Opuss closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jacobs circles away. Opuss changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacobs tries to avoid it but Opuss manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacobs to the ground. Jacobs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jeffrey Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Opuss looks gassed! Jacobs throws a head kick but Opuss moves out of range.
Jacobs shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jacobs was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jacobs looking to finish Opuss with some ground and pound. This is bad for Opuss! Jacobs looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Opuss tries to lock up and control but Jacobs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Opuss is in all sorts of trouble here.

Jacobs has control of Opuss's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Opuss regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jacobs is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Opuss with a poor takedown and Jacobs counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jeffrey Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Opuss. Opuss trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Jacobs passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jacobs scoring with punches from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeffrey Jacobs dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jacobs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Opuss! Jacobs wants to control the pace but Opuss is squirming around nicely. BOOM! Jacobs connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jeffrey Jacobs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Opuss tries to hold on but Jacobs postures up. Opuss is looking to get to half guard. Opuss tries to lock up and control but Jacobs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Opuss regains half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jacobs is looking for a kimura but Opuss is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jacobs to get the leverage.

Opuss tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jacobs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jacobs looks up at the clock and then as Opuss takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jacobs smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee asks Jacobs politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jacobs prefers to stall for the moment though. Opuss regains half guard. Jacobs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jacobs is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Opuss is just riding it out for now. Jacobs eventually gives up the hold. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Opuss is refusing to be controlled, as Jacobs sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobs is thwarting Opuss's attempts to control the position. Jacobs seems to be working for a kimura but Opuss defends the submission attempt. Opuss keeping hold of Jacobs's head, controlling as best he can. Opuss flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jacobs is working for a kimura but Opuss is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Opuss tries to close the distance and clinch but Jacobs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jacobs throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jacobs is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Opuss is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Opuss is trying to buck Jacobs off. Opuss tries to buck Jacobs off but Jacobs is having none of it. Opuss is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jacobs's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Jacobs! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Opuss has tapped! This one is allllll over!
