Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malmu Usiadt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rashad Patrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Malmu Usiadt!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Usiadt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patrick is looking to counter the offense by Usiadt and move into the clinch.

Usiadt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Patrick tries to escape but Usiadt is in control.
Usiadt is staying tight to Patrick's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Patrick is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Usiadt has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Patrick could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Usiadt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Patrick, who protects the arm well.
Usiadt working the head and body with strikes.
You can see the frustration on Patrick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Patrick is working to avoid the ground and pound but Usiadt connects with a decent elbow.
Usiadt happy to just control the position for now.
Usiadt is looking to take a break and control but Patrick is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Patrick can't do much from the bottom here.
Patrick throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Usiadt wants to control but Patrick is keeping him busy.
Usiadt slows the pace down.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Patrick keeps Usiadt under control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Usiadt tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Patrick is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Patrick avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Usiadt.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Usiadt in particular looking to stall.
Patrick is staying active underneath Usiadt, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Patrick is looking for a sweep. Usiadt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Patrick stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Patrick wants it to stay on the feet.

Usiadt has Patrick up against the cage in a clinch.

Usiadt successfully pulls guard.
Patrick chips away with some ground and pound.
Usiadt looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Usiadt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Usiadt tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Patrick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Usiadt throws a series of punches but Patrick moves out of range.

Usiadt is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Patrick tries to pull guard but Usiadt won't allow it.
Usiadt dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Usiadt is trying to break the clinch but Patrick has him pressed against the cage.
Usiadt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Patrick tries to circle away but Usiadt has him pinned against the cage.
Usiadt keeps control of Patrick as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Usiadt wants the takedown. Patrick is fighting it off but Usiadt persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Patrick's guard against the cage.
Usiadt is breathing heavily.
Usiadt won't allow Patrick to get back to his feet.
Usiadt working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Usiadt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patrick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Usiadt looking to sit in guard and control but Patrick gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Patrick stands up and waves to Usiadt to follow him.
Usiadt misses with a looping left.
Usiadt lands a nice hook to Patrick's body. Patrick takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Usiadt avoids the head kick by Patrick.
Usiadt steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Patrick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Usiadt shoots in for a double leg but Patrick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Usiadt avoids the head kick by Patrick.
Patrick looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rashad Patrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Usiadt tries to close the distance and clinch but Patrick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Usiadt throws a jab but it's blocked by Patrick.
No joy there for Patrick, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Patrick tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Usiadt shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Usiadt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malmu Usiadt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Usiadt clinches up with Patrick and pushes him back against the cage.
Patrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Usiadt walks away with a smile on his face. Patrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Rashad Patrick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Patrick is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Usiadt is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Patrick tries to pull guard but Usiadt forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Patrick is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Usiadt to keep the fight standing.

Patrick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Usiadt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Malmu Usiadt has got the better of the ground game so far.
Patrick is looking to work some ground and pound but Usiadt has wrist control.
Patrick postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Usiadt pulls Patrick in to control the position.

Usiadt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patrick tries to avoid it but Usiadt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patrick to the ground. Patrick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Usiadt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Patrick throws a head kick that misses.

Usiadt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Patrick quickly recovers to half guard.
Patrick moves into full guard.
Usiadt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Patrick pulls Usiadt in close to his closed guard and prevents Usiadt from doing any damage or advancing position.
Patrick might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Patrick wants to get back to his feet but Usiadt is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Patrick keeping moving, preventing Usiadt from controlling successfully.
Usiadt throws a big elbow that misses.
Usiadt trying to control the position from guard on top but Patrick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Usiadt wants to pass the guard but Patrick is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A punch lands to the side of Usiadt 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Patrick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Usiadt goes for a double leg but Patrick avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Patrick continues to drive forward.
Usiadt bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Usiadt lands a takedown into guard.
Usiadt prevents Patrick from getting back to his feet.
Usiadt wants to control from the top but Patrick keeps moving.
Patrick bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Usiadt's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Patrick landing with the ground and pound.
Rashad Patrick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Malmu Usiadt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Patrick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Malmu Usiadt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Usiadt winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
