The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McShady misses with a two punch combination.
Gatto will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McShady wants to counter with a clinch but Gatto pushes him away.
Gatto stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gatto wants it to stay on the feet.
Gatto throws a series of punches but McShady avoids them all with ease.

McShady closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gatto to the mat! Gatto manages to get full guard.

McShady postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gatto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McShady is putting a hurting on Gatto here, landing some big shots from side control.

McShady decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gatto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

McShady shoots for a double leg takedown but Gatto sprawls well. He's pushed McShady's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gatto is trying to break the clinch but McShady is controlling him.

McShady has Gatto pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gatto manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

McShady is trying to drag Gatto to the mat but Gatto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Gatto has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Gatto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McShady shoots in but no luck this time.
McShady throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gatto's waist but Gatto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McShady off to one side.

and McShady counters with a three punch combo that has Gatto backing up. Gatto nods at McShady to acknowledge the strikes.
Gatto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
McShady throws a right hand that Gatto ducks under and follows up with a left that Gatto also avoids with ease.

McShady goes for a double leg but Gatto avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gatto continues to drive forward.

As Gatto backs off McShady throws a huge counter combo but Gatto manages to avoid it all.

McShady shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gatto manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gatto enables McShady to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gatto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Gatto is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and McShady dives into side control.
McShady has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McShady decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McShady is looking to advance position but Gatto won't allow it.

Gatto is not content to let McShady control the position.
McShady is nestled in close to Gatto, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
