Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chester Mcmillan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Cornell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chester Mcmillan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Cornell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cornell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mcmillan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cornell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mcmillan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Cornell is looking to take a break and control but Mcmillan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mcmillan controls the position for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cornell looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mcmillan is avoiding damage well.

Cornell throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Mcmillan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cornell has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mcmillan sneaks back into half guard.
Mcmillan is looking to control Cornell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mcmillan avoid being mounted?

Cornell looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
It looks like Cornell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mcmillan pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cornell shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cornell is thwarting Mcmillan's attempts to control the position.
Mcmillan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cornell throwing shots but Mcmillan is blocking nicely.
Mcmillan won't allow Cornell to pass to mount.
Mcmillan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mcmillan is looking to control Cornell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mcmillan avoid being mounted?

Cornell wants to take a breather but Mcmillan is having none of it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cornell in particular looking to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mcmillan darts in looking for a takedown but Cornell gets double underhooks and turns Mcmillan into the cage.
Cornell is looking to slow Mcmillan down with leg kicks.

Cornell throws a big elbow that misses.
Mcmillan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Mcmillan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mcmillan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cornell tries to clinch there but Mcmillan circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cornell forces Mcmillan back against the cage and clinches.
Mcmillan jumps guard but Cornell stands there with Mcmillan around his waist. Mcmillan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mcmillan is looking to break free of the clinch but Cornell has double underhooks.
Mcmillan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cornell walks away with a smile on his face. Mcmillan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cornell looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cornell just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMcmillan.

Cornell throws a series of punches but Mcmillan moves out of range.
Jon Cornell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cornell tries to clinch up but Mcmillan circles away and keeps his distance.

Cornell closes the distance and clinches.

Cornell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Mcmillan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mcmillan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mcmillan enables Cornell to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mcmillan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cornell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cornell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mcmillan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mcmillan is looking to stand up but Cornell isn't so interested in that idea.
Cornell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cornell postures up in Mcmillan's guard and throws a big left but Mcmillan blocks it.

Cornell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cornell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcmillan manages to get himself to full guard.

Cornell is stalling in the full guard.

Jon Cornell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Cornell is looking to clinch.

As Mcmillan backs off Cornell throws a huge counter combo but Mcmillan manages to avoid it all.

Cornell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mcmillan has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mcmillan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cornell misses with a two punch combination.

Cornell gets a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Cornell obliges.
Mcmillan jumps guard but Cornell turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Mcmillan is trying to pull guard but Cornell has him pressed against the cage.
Cornell prevents Mcmillan from breaking the clinch.

Mcmillan swats away the attempt to clinch by Cornell.

Mcmillan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cornell doesn't manage to clinch there - Mcmillan circles away.
Mcmillan drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cornell sprawls and moves away.

Cornell takes the fight into the clinch.
Mcmillan takes a shot to the head.
Cornell blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Well Cornell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
