The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zolner swats away the attempt to clinch by Bockstruck.
Despite the aggression on Zolner's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Bockstruck lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

It looks like Timur Zolner has been cut.
Bockstruck throws the left hand but Zolner avoids the punch easily.
Tony Bockstruck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

enabling Zolner to counter with a crisp jab.

Bockstruck throws out a loose jab but Zolner uses good head movement to avoid it.

Zolner has managed to clinch.
Zolner is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bockstruck is defending well for now.

Zolner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bockstruck is fending him off so far but Zolner persists. Nope, Bockstruck circles away and we're back to standing.
Bockstruck fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Bockstruck throws a low kick but it's checked well by Zolner.
Zolner works Bockstruck's body with a nice hook.
Bockstruck moves out of range as Zolner throws a body kick.
Zolner dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Zolner lands with a cross.
A punch lands to the side of Bockstruck 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Zolner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Tony Bockstruck's cut is getting worse.
Zolner lands a nice looking body shot.

Zolner moves into range and clinches up with Bockstruck.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Zolner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Zolner.
Zolner lands a slapping body shot.
Zolner lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bockstruck at a distance.
Zolner cracks Bockstruck with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nice jab there from Zolner.
Zolner is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Zolner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Zolner passes to side control.

Zolner stands up and beckons Bockstruck to his feet.

Zolner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bockstruck to the mat! Bockstruck manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timur Zolner dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Bockstruck takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Zolner is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bockstruck rather than just go for the knockout.

Zolner goes for a double leg but Bockstruck avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bockstruck continues to drive forward.

Zolner has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tony Bockstruck's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Zolner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bockstruck throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Zolner counters with a left to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zolner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bockstruck's head.

Bockstruck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bockstruck tries to get out of the position.
Zolner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Zolner lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
