Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Mathu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chael Plouman! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mathu has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Plouman is trying to keep an underhook but Mathu manages to get the takedown into half guard. Plouman is staying active underneath Mathu, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Plouman is looking to control Mathu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Plouman avoid being mounted? Plouman actively working from the bottom here. Plouman tries to kick Mathu off but Mathu keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Plouman is staying active underneath Mathu, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Plouman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathu controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mathu avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mathu trying to control but Plouman is working from the bottom. Plouman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mathu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Plouman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mathu defends well. Plouman looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mathu passes into side control.
Mathu advances nicely into full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mathu wants to control the pace but Plouman is squirming around nicely. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mathu misses with a head shot. Plouman can't escape the position.
Plouman wants to hold on but Mathu pushes him away. Plouman regains half guard. Plouman looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mathu is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Plouman! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathu lands a couple of good shots and Plouman has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Plouman tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Plouman wants to hold on but Mathu pushes him away. Mathu landing strikes, looking to finish! Mathu is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Plouman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Plouman is rocked! Mathu wants to control the pace but Plouman is squirming around nicely. Plouman is still in real trouble! Can Mathu finish him? Mathu postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Plouman bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Mathu and the fight is over!
