Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xande Da Rocha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dylan Carter! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter lands a head kick!
It looks like Xande Da Rocha has been cut. Carter connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Da Rocha closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth. Da Rocha passes to full mount! Carter is desperately trying to improve his position but Da Rocha has a good base and remains in mount. Carter is squirming around, avoiding Da Rocha's attempts to control the action. Carter tries to hold on but Da Rocha pushes him away. Carter keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Da Rocha moves to take his opponent's back. Da Rocha controls the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Da Rocha working for the choke. Carter tries to roll but Da Rocha sticks to his back.
Carter turns into Da Rocha and is now in his guard.
Da Rocha has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Carter looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Da Rocha swivels though and keeps the full guard. Da Rocha wants to sweep here but Carter controlling him for the moment. Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Rocha is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Da Rocha keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully. Da Rocha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Da Rocha is tightening it up a little... Carter has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Carter reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Carter taps out! Nice BJJ there by Da Rocha!
