Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rikki Tavi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew The Devil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rikki Tavi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mathew The Devil!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavi closes this distance looking for a takedown but The Devil circles away.

The Devil has Tavi up against the cage in a clinch.
Tavi stops a takedown attempt from The Devil.

Tavi gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The Devil is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The Devil doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The Devil wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Tavi postures up.
The Devil might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tavi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tavi wants to control from the top but The Devil keeps moving.

Tavi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The Devil shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than The Devil was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The Devil looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The Devil is looking to take a break and control but Tavi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tavi is trying to control The Devil's posture but The Devil avoids it.
Tavi tries to improve position but can't.

Tavi isn't going anywhere.
Tavi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but The Devil wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Tavi can't do much from the bottom here.
Tavi parries the strikes from The Devil easily there. The Devil is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Tavi to escape.
The Devil wants to control but Tavi is keeping him busy.
The Devil throws an elbow but Tavi slips to the side and avoids it well.

The Devil is looking to take a break and control but Tavi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tavi tries to improve position but can't.

The Devil tries for a kimura but Tavi is defending well.
The Devil trying to control the position but Tavi is working away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tavi is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The Devil is not content to let Tavi control the position.

A close round but Mathew The Devil will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The Devil throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Tavi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. The Devil tries to avoid it but Tavi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag The Devil to the ground. The Devil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Tavi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The Devil gets the takedown into side control.
Tavi wants to control but The Devil postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tavi trying to remain calm as The Devil controls from the top position.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Mathew The Devil has got the better of the ground game so far.

The Devil wants to stand but Tavi has his arm trapped.

Tavi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The Devil is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Tavi is desperately trying to improve his position but The Devil has a good base and remains in mount.
Tavi is squirming around, avoiding The Devil's attempts to control the action.
The Devil tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The Devil punching from mount but Tavi doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Tavi is looking to improve his position but The Devil isn't that keen on the idea.

Tavi wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

The Devil has good solid back control here.
The Devil tries to keep control of the position but Tavi is staying busy.

The Devil is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Tavi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tavi for a finish.

Mathew The Devil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tavi wants to improve his position but The Devil is controlling well.

The Devil seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Tavi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as The Devil sprawls well. The Devil wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tavi gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The Devil tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tavi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rikki Tavi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tavi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but The Devil avoids it really well and circles away.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Tavi darts in looking for a takedown but The Devil gets double underhooks and turns Tavi into the cage.

The Devil feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well The Devil has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
