Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marx Bronson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Silva! The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Silva has control of an arm but Bronson manages to advance to Silva's back! Bronson doesn't have the hooks in and Silva manages to turn into his guard.
Silva sitting in guard, not really doing much. Silva trying to control but Bronson is working from the bottom. Silva pushing down on Bronson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Silva is thwarting Bronson's attempts to control the position. Silva is looking for a kimura but Bronson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage. Bronson tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bronson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Silva's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Silva's back! Bronson working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Bronson looking for the choke but no joy. Silva tries to roll but Bronson sticks to his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva breaks Bronson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Bronson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well. Bronson keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Bronson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Bronson keeping full guard, as Silva tries to pass. Silva is still trying to improve position. Bronson has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Bronson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Silva passes Bronson's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva trying to control from half guard but Bronson is working away. Bronson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bronson has managed to free his arm - good work. Bronson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Silva pulls his head out easily. Silva maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bronson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Silva has cracked it and Bronson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Silva!
