The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akbar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gerson circles away quickly and effectively.
A punch lands to the side of Gerson 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Gerson's coach down at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gerson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Gerson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
