The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks slaps away a takedown attempt from Washington, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Washington shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Banks defends it nicely.

Washington gets a clinch.
Washington tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Banks avoids it.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Washington or not.

Banks drops down looking for an ankle pick but Washington pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Washington is looking to break free of the clinch but Banks has double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Adolfo Washington will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Banks jumps guard but Washington turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Washington drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Banks gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Washington changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banks tries to avoid it but Washington manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banks to the ground. Banks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Banks tests Washington's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Banks fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Washington.

Banks is trying to drag Washington to the mat but Washington just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Banks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Banks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Tony Banks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
