Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitel King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Wright has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mitel King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bill Wright!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Wright gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Wright breaks the clinch.

Wright shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wright was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
An elbow from Wright crashes against the mat.
King tries to buck Wright off but Wright is having none of it.

Wright decides to stand back up.

Wright scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King tries to roll over but Wright keeps him under control.
Wright takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wright missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is trying to maintain the position but Wright is very close to passing his half guard.
Wright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wright looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
King tries to roll over but Wright keeps him under control.
King wants to control but Wright is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Still in half guard, Wright seems content to control.
Wright is thwarting King's attempts to control the position.
Wright slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wright misses with a body punch
and King counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Wright gets a clinch.
King is looking to take this one to the mat.
Wright gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from King.
King tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
King tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mitel King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wright is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Wright lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down King.
King tries to score a body lock takedown but Wright shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Wright pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wright throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Wright finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wright's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Wright's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Wright avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King tries to land a sweep but no joy.
King trying to keep a closed guard but Wright is proving a slippery customer.
Wright seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Wright dominated that round.
That's time! King's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Wright misses with the combination.
King is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wright.

Wright manages to get an easy takedown there - catching King on his heels. He'll look to pass King's guard now, I'm sure.
Wright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wright got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wright has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
Wright not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Wright postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wright defends it easily.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wright content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Wright frees his head nicely. Oh but King has switched to an armbar! Wright is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
