5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yuri Zmertin! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ner shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zmertin's guard. Zmertin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ner wants to pass the guard but Zmertin is keeping the position. Zmertin looking to control.
Ner drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ner jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zmertin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ner, into his guard. Ner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zmertin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zmertin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Ner is looking to regain half guard here but Zmertin keeps moving and retains side control.

Ner is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Zmertin has control of Ner's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ner regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Oh Ner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Zmertin quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Zmertin but it's paid off an Ner is forced to tap! Nice work by Zmertin.
