Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sung Valenzuela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Calapez!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calapez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Calapez showed some decent athleticism there.
Valenzuela makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Valenzuela.
Calapez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Valenzuela is keeping the position for now.
Calapez wants to control from the top but Valenzuela keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Calapez has gone for a leg lock! Valenzuela slips out almost immediately though and dives into Calapez's guard.


Calapez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Valenzuela can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Calapez is on top in guard.

Valenzuela lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Calapez will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Calapez has a closed guard, preventing Valenzuela from standing up.
Calapez trying to keep a closed guard but Valenzuela is proving a slippery customer.
Calapez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Calapez wants to improve his position but instead Valenzuela has moved into half guard.
Calapez tries to get to full guard but Valenzuela has control of the leg.

Valenzuela really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Calapez is trying to maintain the position but Valenzuela is very close to passing his half guard.
Valenzuela is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Valenzuela gets a takedown into half guard.
Calapez wants to improve his position but Valenzuela is controlling well.

That's time! Valenzuela's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Calapez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Valenzuela desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Valenzuela is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sung Valenzuela overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Valenzuela makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Valenzuela.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Valenzuela is looking to cinch up a triangle. Calapez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Valenzuela's body to avoid the submission. Valenzuela has instead reached around Calapez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Valenzuela arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Sung Valenzuela!
