Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sims comes to the cage accompanied by Get Busy by Sean Paul. Jay Jones acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Sims!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Jones!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims misses the shot to the body.
Sims smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Jay Jones has been cut.
Sims throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jones throws a lazy head kick

and Sims counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sims.
Jones is looking for a takedown.
Sims has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jones is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sims misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jones prevents a body shot from Sims.
Sims doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Sims wants to take the fight to the mat but Jones manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Sims scores with a nice short uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sims tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.

Sims gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch.

Sims drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sims manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sims looking for a sweep. Not yet Sims, not yet.
Jones trying to control but Sims is working from the bottom.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sims works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Sims.

Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sims looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sims's guard.
Sims knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Sims trying to control but Jones postures up.
Sims is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jones is controlling the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sims wants to get back to full guard.
Jones lands with a punch from half guard.
Sims wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones trying to mount his opponent but Sims defends it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sims throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Nice takedown defense from Sims. No joy for Jones on that attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A big left from Sims misses.
Sims throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sims off to one side.
Sims scores with the left hand. Jones knows he should have avoided that one.

Simon Sims seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sims throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sims looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sims looks to move to half guard but instead Jones has passed into mount! Damn!
Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sims can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Jones content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jay Jones will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jones jumps guard but Sims stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jones looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Sims's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Simon Sims has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Jones.

Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sims throws out the jab.
Jones takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sims but Sims pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sims throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Jones is breathing heavily.
Sims bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jones's head backwards.
Jones takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sims.
Jones changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sims.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sims tests Jones's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sims throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sims connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jones. Jones circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Sims is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A slow jab from Sims misses its intended target.
Sims sets himself, and Jones steps forward looking for the clinch! Sims avoids it this time.
Sims stuffs the takedown.
Sims lands with a right that hurts Jones. Jones looks to clinch but Sims throws a short knee that drops Jones. This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Simon Sims thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
