Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 63 - 20 - 4, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clint Lomax!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lomax connects with an inside leg kick.
Beckett definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lomax on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Beckett looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Beckett misses with a double jab.
Lomax appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Beckett shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lomax ducks right into an uppercut from Beckett.
Beckett misses with a hook. Lomax ducked under it nicely.
Beckett cracks Lomax with a good jab.
Lomax throws a body punch but Beckett moves out of range.
Lomax fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Beckett.

and Lomax counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Beckett connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lomax momentarily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lomax missing with a left hand there. Beckett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lomax throws out a loose jab but Beckett uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lomax's coach down at Kebab House was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lomax's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lomax lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Beckett has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Beckett and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Beckett attempts a counter takedown but Lomax avoids it well and moves away.
Beckett throws a hook but Lomax blocks it.
Lomax checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Beckett stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Lomax does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A slapping leg kick lands for Beckett.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lomax was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Lomax throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Beckett sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lomax misses with a hook.
Beckett misses with an attempted mid kick.
Beckett moves out of range as Lomax throws a body kick.

Lomax throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lomax fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Beckett on the side of the head.
A clash of legs there as Beckett blocks the low kick.
Beckett shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lomax sprawls well. Lomax wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Beckett gets slowly back to his feet.
Lomax lands a nice hook to Beckett's body. Beckett takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Beckett misses with a hook. Lomax ducked under it nicely.

Lomax scores with a sloppy right hand. Beckett should have avoided that one.
Lomax takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lomax tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beckett paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Beckett half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Beckett thuds a left hand into Lomax's body.

Beckett uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lomax.

Lomax now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Beckett will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Beckett prevents Lomax from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Some bone on bone action there as Beckett checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Beckett misses with an uppercut. Lomax saw that one coming.
Clint Lomax seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Beckett takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A low kick from Lomax is predictable there

and Beckett counters with a takedown into side control.

Lomax is trying to buck Beckett off.
Beckett throws a strike aimed at the side of Lomax's head but Lomax avoids it well.
Beckett wants to control but Lomax is keeping him busy.

Beckett is trying to get an arm triangle but Lomax is defending well.
Lomax tries to bench press Beckett off him but Beckett keeps the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Beckett tries for a kimura but Lomax is defending well.
Beckett creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lomax sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Lomax is looking to reverse the position.
The ground and pound from Beckett seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Lomax is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Beckett is controlling him well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close second round but Clint Lomax will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Lomax fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Beckett on the side of the head.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lomax.
Lomax jabs Beckett to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Beckett throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A little jabbing left from Lomax on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lomax walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Beckett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lomax's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lomax is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beckett's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beckett's back!

Lomax pushes Beckett off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

so Beckett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lomax is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lomax has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Beckett is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Lomax escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lomax looks to land a left hand but Beckett moved out of range nicely.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beckett checks a leg kick.

Lomax moves into the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

I would just about give that final round to Clint Lomax.
I think Lomax has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Clint Lomax was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
