The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Avila sprawls well initially but Davis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Avila is looking to improve his position.

Avila is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Davis swats away the attempt to clinch by Avila.

Davis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Avila manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Avila lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Davis looks winded!
Avila stands up over Davis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Avila won't allow Davis to sweep him here.

Avila is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back!
