The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whetzel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sokolov cracks Whetzel with a right hand to the side of the head.
Whetzel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sokolov circles away.
A telegraphed right hand from Sokolov misses the target.
Whetzel moves in looking to clinch but Sokolov pushes him off.
Sokolov looks to land a right hand but Whetzel moved out of range.

Sokolov lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Whetzel backwards.
Sokolov works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Sokolov drops Whetzel onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Whetzel is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

It looks like Matt Whetzel has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sokolov pushes Whetzel against the cage. Sokolov is working some dirty boxing. Sokolov pushes off with a quick right hook! Whetzel goes down! Whetzel tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Sokolov moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
