Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Heilgeist! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Decimus Meridius! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heilgeist misses with the combination.
Heilgeist throws a body shot but no joy. Heilgeist doesn't manage to clinch there - Meridius circles away.
Adam Heilgeist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meridius dodges the punch combination from Heilgeist.
Heilgeist works the jab nicely. Heilgeist blocks a leg kick. Heilgeist scores with a jab to the body. Heilgeist checks a low kick from Meridius. Heilgeist tries to counter with a takedown but Meridius is quick to defend against it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Heilgeist lands a jab to the head.
Heilgeist throws a series of punches but Meridius avoids them all with ease. Heilgeist swinging wildly here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Meridius wants to land a leg kick but Heilgeist is out of range. Heilgeist looks to land a left hand but Meridius moved out of range nicely. Meridius tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Heilgeist misses with a double jab
and Meridius counters with a shoot takedown. Heilgeist fights it but they end up in guard. Meridius stays in close to Heilgeist's body and controls the position. Meridius's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meridius forces his way into half guard. Meridius not doing much here.
Heilgeist is defending against the submission attempts here by Meridius.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meridius performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. More stalling from Meridius.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Let's hope that Meridius has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Heilgeist looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Meridius tries to pass to full mount but Heilgeist defends it. Meridius is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Meridius is trying to work for a kimura but Heilgeist is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Decimus Meridius dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Meridius throws a low kick but Heilgeist moves out of range easily. Heilgeist darts in trying to clinch and Meridius decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Heilgeist's guard. Meridius trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Meridius sitting in guard, not really doing much. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meridius passes easily into side control. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Heilgeist's face as Meridius controls the position. Heilgeist knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meridius on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meridius thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Meridius taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Meridius. Meridius has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Meridius is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Heilgeist looks calm but he's in trouble here. Meridius gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Heilgeist is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Meridius lets go of the hold and Heilgeist can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Decimus Meridius! Adam Heilgeist spoke after the fight, saying 'Back to training. This is an oddity. It won't happen much.'.
