Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shaun Acosta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stefan Grimm!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimm displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Acosta.

Grimm changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Acosta looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Grimm trying to control the action but Acosta is working from the bottom.
Acosta tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Grimm easily slips into full mount!
Grimm looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Acosta tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Grimm lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grimm jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Acosta is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Acosta and Grimm has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

You can see the frustration on Acosta's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Acosta is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grimm is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Grimm seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Acosta does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Acosta looks like he's trying to stand up.
Grimm is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Acosta has a closed guard, preventing Grimm from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Acosta lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Grimm is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Grimm has an active guard here but Acosta has managed to pass into half guard.

Grimm kicks Acosta off and gets back to his feet.
Acosta will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Acosta shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Grimm defends it nicely.

Acosta sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Acosta moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Acosta is adopting a defensive guard.
Grimm trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Acosta trying to keep a closed guard but Grimm is proving a slippery customer.
Grimm postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stefan Grimm dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Grimm closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Acosta did well to prevent Grimm getting side control.
Acosta works his way to full guard. Good work.
Grimm wants to get up but he can't break Acosta's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Grimm is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Acosta is pulling down on Grimm's head. It's preventing any offense from Grimm, at least for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Acosta looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Grimm manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Acosta on his heels. He'll look to pass Acosta's guard now, I'm sure.

Acosta pulls Grimm in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Grimm closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Acosta quickly recovers to half guard.
Grimm is breathing heavily.

Grimm decides to stand and escape the position.

Grimm bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Acosta wants to control but Grimm postures up.
Grimm wants to control for a moment but Acosta uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Grimm is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Acosta defends it well.
Acosta is pressing down on Grimm's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Grimm has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Acosta is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Grimm defends well.
Grimm stays in close to Acosta's body and controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Grimm tries to free his leg and advance position but Acosta is retaining full guard.

Acosta looking for a triangle here. Grimm is fighting it but it looks tight! Acosta pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Grimm is tapping out - this one is all over!
