PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Voronov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kola Dum Knightling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Voronov comes to the cage accompanied by Hell's Bells. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Voronov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kola Dum Knightling!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Voronov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Voronov is controlling the pace.
Voronov lands strikes from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Voronov on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Voronov gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Dum Knightling regains guard.
Voronov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dum Knightling wants to get back to his feet but Voronov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Voronov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Voronov stands up from Dum Knightling's guard - Voronov perhaps looking for a knockout.
Dum Knightling avoids the head kick by Voronov.
Dum Knightling throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Dum Knightling avoids a kick to the body.

Voronov clinches.
Voronov managing to block the knees to the body from Dum Knightling.
Dum Knightling misses with a punch on the inside.
Dum Knightling is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Voronov is defending well for now.

Dum Knightling throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Voronov tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dum Knightling manages to circle out of the way.

Voronov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Voronov connects with a nice short shot to Dum Knightling's temple.
Voronov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dum Knightling with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Voronov is working for a submission of some sort.
Dum Knightling is looking to get back to is feet but Voronov passes into side control.

Voronov is staying tight to Dum Knightling's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Voronov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
A lull in the action here as Voronov stalls from top position.
Voronov lands some shots froms side control.

Voronov decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dum Knightling to his feet.
Voronov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dum Knightling moves away.

Voronov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Voronov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Voronov decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Voronov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Voronov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Voronov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Dum Knightling is trying to escape the position but Voronov is controlling the position.
Voronov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dum Knightling for as long as he can get away with.

Voronov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Voronov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dum Knightling's guard.
Dum Knightling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Voronov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Voronov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Voronov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Voronov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
