Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dallas Humphrey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Humphrey has Gonzalez up against the cage in a clinch.
Gonzalez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Humphrey doesn't manage to clinch there - Gonzalez circles away.
Gonzalez tries to bum rush Humphrey with a series of wild strikes but Humphrey uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gonzalez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Gonzalez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gonzalez keeps the fight on the outside. Gonzalez dives in and scores a takedown into Humphrey's guard. Humphrey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gonzalez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Humphrey keeping moving, preventing Gonzalez from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez is looking to work some ground and pound but Humphrey has wrist control. Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Humphrey keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gonzalez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Humphrey wants to sweep but no luck. Gonzalez looking to pass the guard. Gonzalez advances position into side control! Gonzalez tries to stand but Humphrey is controlling his head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Humphrey struggling a bit here. Gonzalez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Gonzalez tries to stand but Humphrey is controlling his head. Gonzalez tries to advance position but instead Humphrey slips a leg back in to half guard. Humphrey looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez trying to mount his opponent but Humphrey defends it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gonzalez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Humphrey tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Gonzalez manages to circle out of the way. Gonzalez misses the body punch and Humphrey moves into the clinch. Gonzalez can't break the clinch.
Gonzalez is trying to push Humphrey away but Humphrey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Gonzalez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Gonzalez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Humphrey's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Humphrey actively working from the bottom here. Humphrey tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Gonzalez not landing any meaningful shots this time. Gonzalez passes to full mount! Gonzalez controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Humphrey bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Gonzalez dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Humphrey wants to clinch but Gonzalez slips to the side and Gonzalez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Humphrey throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Gonzalez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Let's hope that Gonzalez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gonzalez with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez throwing strikes from guard but Humphrey blocks nicely. Humphrey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gonzalez's guard. Gonzalez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Humphrey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzalez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gonzalez can do anything to dispel that myth. Humphrey postures up in Gonzalez's guard and throws a big left but Gonzalez blocks it. Gonzalez tries to land a sweep but no joy. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Gonzalez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Jason Gonzalez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gonzalez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gonzalez goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Humphrey rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gonzalez's guard! Nice work there by Humphrey! Gonzalez is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Humphrey trying to control but Gonzalez is working from the bottom. Gonzalez is trying to control the position but Humphrey postures up. Jason Gonzalez has got the better of the ground game so far. Gonzalez wants to hit a switch here but Humphrey passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gonzalez there! Humphrey working Gonzalez over with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Humphrey misses with a head shot. Humphrey throwing strikes here but Gonzalez is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Humphrey has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gonzalez's face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Humphrey cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gonzalez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Humphrey scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Humphrey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Humphrey trying to control but Gonzalez is having none of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Humphrey looking to finish Gonzalez with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gonzalez! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dallas Humphrey dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

and Humphrey counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gonzalez! Gonzalez tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ground and pound from Humphrey seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Humphrey looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Gonzalez is avoiding damage well.
Humphrey connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gonzalez some visible discomfort.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Humphrey tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Gonzalez is looking to regain half guard here but Humphrey keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Humphrey scoring with punches from side control. Humphrey misses with the ground and pound. Humphrey tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Gonzalez tries to buck Humphrey off but Humphrey is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Humphrey working the strikes but Gonzalez uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Humphrey slips a nice elbow through Gonzalez's hands, connecting with Gonzalez's forehead. Humphrey content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Humphrey has taken the fight to the clinch.
Humphrey tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gonzalez smiles and moves away.
Gonzalez throws a right and a left that Humphrey avoids nicely. Humphrey doesn't manage to clinch there - Gonzalez circles away.
Gonzalez steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Humphrey. Humphrey fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez misses with a body shot.

Gonzalez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gonzalez digs a good body shot into Humphrey's ribs. Gonzalez swings and misses with a shot to the body and Humphrey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Humphrey. Humphrey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Humphrey actively working from the bottom here. Gonzalez uses his free foot to push down on Humphrey's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Humphrey. Humphrey is looking to improve his position but Gonzalez isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Humphrey wants to control but Gonzalez is having none of it. Gonzalez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gonzalez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gonzalez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Humphrey looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jason Gonzalez. I think Gonzalez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
