Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gotwalt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Kozlov!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotwalt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gotwalt fails with the takedown.
Kozlov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gotwalt takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nice jab there from Kozlov.
Gotwalt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gotwalt shoots in looking for a takedown but Kozlov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gotwalt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Gotwalt jumps guard but Kozlov stands there with Gotwalt around his waist. Gotwalt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gotwalt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gotwalt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kozlov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kozlov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gotwalt sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Gotwalt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gotwalt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kozlov wants to stand and escape but Gotwalt is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gotwalt shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kozlov defends it nicely.
Kozlov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kozlov duly obliges.
Gotwalt moves forwards but Kozlov connects with a nice, crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kozlov dips to his left and cracks Gotwalt with an uppercut!
Kozlov has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kozlov connects with a looping right hand.
Gotwalt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kozlov circles away.

It looks like Jeff Gotwalt has been cut.
Kozlov connects with a right hand. Gotwalt shakes it off.
Gotwalt goes for a double leg but Kozlov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kozlov continues to drive forward.

Kozlov smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Kozlov darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Kozlov connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gotwalt. Gotwalt circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gotwalt has his foot on Kozlov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kozlov works his way back into a safe position though.
Gotwalt seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Gotwalt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gotwalt looking for a triangle here. Kozlov is fighting it but it looks tight! Gotwalt pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Kozlov is tapping out - this one is all over!
