Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between George Bunga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derrick Jon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, George Bunga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Jon! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Bunga with that takedown attempt. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jon! But no joy. Bunga looks for a takedown but Jon sprawls well. Bunga uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jon. Bunga went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Bunga moves into range and clinches up with Jon. Bunga ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bunga no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Jon sitting in guard here, content to control. Bunga is trying to control the position but Jon postures up. Jon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bunga wants to sweep here but Jon controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jon content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bunga is keeping the position for now. Jon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bunga. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Bunga is looking for a triangle but Jon pushes his legs off easily.
Jon's corner is telling him to maintain position. Jon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jon wants to pass the guard but Bunga is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jon trying to move into half guard but instead Bunga has managed to sweep! Bunga throwing strikes but missing. Jon wants to sweep but no luck. Bunga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jon is pulling down on Bunga's head. It's preventing any offense from Bunga, at least for the moment. Bunga pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jon is keeping the position for now. Bunga throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bunga thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jon looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jon can do anything to dispel that myth. Jon looking for a sweep. Not yet Jon, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Jon keeps trying to improve his position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jon holds on and takes a little breather. Bunga passes into half guard. Bunga is looking for a kimura but Jon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bunga to get the leverage. Jon is staying active underneath Bunga, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jon keeping hold of Bunga's head, controlling as best he can. Jon wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jon has a hand on Bunga's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bunga takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Bunga avoids the attempt from Jon to control. Bunga looking to control but Jon is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bunga landing strikes from the mount and Jon is in trouble! Bunga is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jon can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bunga moves to back control. Bunga working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Jon is doing well to defend. Bunga seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Jon is forced to tap and this one is over!
