Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Butifuco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Victor McCane!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butifuco fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McCane on the side of the head.
Butifuco lands a head shot.
McCane moves into range and clinches up with Butifuco.
McCane lands an elbow inside.
McCane being controlled against the cage.
McCane jumps guard but Butifuco stands there with McCane around his waist. McCane gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McCane is looking for a takedown.
Butifuco breaks from the clinch.
We've been told by Butifuco's head coaches at DOG HOUSE!! that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
McCane throws a lazy head kick
and Butifuco cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Butifuco catches McCane with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Butifuco uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McCane.
McCane fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Butifuco checks it well.
Butifuco fires out a quick counter leg kick but McCane just manages to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McCane blocks a head kick by Butifuco.
Decent striking displayed by Butifuco there.
McCane tries to close the distance and clinch up but Butifuco swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Butifuco lands a left and a right that send McCane crashing to the mat, dazed. Butifuco thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
McCane is rocked!
Butifuco lands a big head kick that sends McCane tumbling to the mat! Butifuco takes a step backwards and waves McCane back to his feet - he wants the finish!
McCane is still on wobbly legs! Can Butifuco finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Butifuco and McCane are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Butifuco throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking McCane into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Butifuco knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Joey Butifuco!
