Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Shalbek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lev Melnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Melnikov's choice of entrance music: Korn - Freak on a Leash. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Shalbek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lev Melnikov! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melnikov misses with a double jab.
Melnikov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Shalbek clinches up with Melnikov and pushes him back against the ropes. Shalbek misses with a short punch on the inside. Shalbek creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Melnikov tries to break the clinch but Shalbek is controlling the position. Shalbek misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Shalbek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

It looks like Vladimir Shalbek has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Oh Shalbek is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Shalbek is looking to regain half guard here but Melnikov keeps moving and retains side control. Shalbek seems to have got his legs back now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melnikov wants to stand but Shalbek is controlling his arm. Shalbek is looking to reverse the position. Melnikov prevents Shalbek from escaping the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Shalbek gets back to half guard. Melnikov seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Shalbek is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Melnikov misses with a looping left. Melnikov throws a hook but Shalbek avoids it easily. Shalbek avoids a punch combination nicely.

Melnikov misses with a few strikes there.
Melnikov looks gassed! Melnikov tries to clinch and Shalbek counters with a takedown into side control. Shalbek decides to stand up, so the ref orders Melnikov to his feet. Melnikov takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Shalbek moves into range and clinches up with Melnikov. Shalbek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A combination from Melnikov does no damage. Shalbek throws a nice inside leg kick. Shalbek scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Shalbek rushes Melnikov and presses him up against the ropes. Shalbek lands a nice knee to the body. Shalbek tries to land a knee to the head but Melnikov blocks with his arms.

Shalbek circles away from the clinch attempt and Shalbek counters with a single leg into guard. Melnikov didn't expect that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shalbek trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shalbek stops Melnikov from standing up. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Shalbek wants to pass the guard but Melnikov is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shalbek connects with a high kick. Melnikov lands a left and a right that sends Shalbek crashing to the canvas! Melnikov dives into mount looking to finish! Melnikov trying to control but Shalbek is having none of it. Shalbek working to try and regain half guard.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Shalbek here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shalbek wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melnikov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shalbek is looking to escape. Shalbek really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Melnikov trying to control but Shalbek is having none of it. Shalbek is desperately trying to improve his position but Melnikov has a good base and remains in mount. Melnikov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shalbek is looking to escape. Melnikov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shalbek kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Melnikov content just to control the position here. Shalbek tries to reverse the position but Melnikov maintains control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shalbek tries to hold on but Melnikov pushes him away. Melnikov trying to control but Shalbek is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lev Melnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Vladimir Shalbek's cut. That's time! Shalbek's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Lev Melnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Melnikov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Some wild striking there from Melnikov.

Melnikov closes the distance and clinches. Melnikov is trying to break free. Shalbek is working for takedown but Melnikov is calmly controlling the position for now. Both guys are working to get underhooks. With the fighters up against the ropes, Shalbek throws an elbow but misses. Shalbek can't break the clinch.

Melnikov prevents Shalbek from breaking the clinch. Melnikov is trying to break the clinch but Shalbek has him pressed against the ropes. Melnikov has had enough of the clinch but Shalbek keeps him there for the moment. Shalbek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shalbek slips a jab and a cross from Melnikov.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Melnikov shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Shalbek avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shalbek lands a jab to Melnikov's midsection. Shalbek takes a swing at Melnikov's ribcage but misses. Melnikov looks to land a combination. Shalbek sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Melnikov misses with a combination
and Shalbek counters with a nice double leg into side control. Melnikov won't be happy with that. Melnikov managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Shalbek.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Melnikov is not content to let Shalbek control the position. Shalbek throwing shots but missing, from side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Vladimir Shalbek showed his dominance in that final round. Well Shalbek has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
