PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pelle Hermano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krejzi Kure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hermano comes into the arena with Driving Blind blaring out of the sound system. Kure is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by BIG SHUG - who's hard. Pelle Hermano has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pelle Hermano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Krejzi Kure!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kure throws a right hand that Hermano ducks under and follows up with a left that Hermano also avoids with ease.
Hermano buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Hermano closes the distance and clinches.
Kure takes a shot to the head.
We've been hearing reports that Hermano has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Hermano tries to throw a body punch but Kure avoids it by throwing Hermano back against the cage.
Kure tries to break free but Hermano pushes him back against the cage.
Kure fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Hermano breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hermano tries to bum rush Kure with a series of wild strikes but Kure uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hermano misses with a body shot.
Hermano lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hermano fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Kure tries to close the distance and clinch but Hermano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kure misses with a few strikes there.
Hermano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hermano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A countering left hand to the body from Kure misses.

Hermano misses with a series of wild punches.
A little jabbing left from Kure on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hermano.
Hermano moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hermano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hermano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kure.
Pelle Hermano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kure on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hermano. Hermano obviously looking to wear him down.
Hermano darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Hermano connects with a crisp jab.

Hermano gets tackled into the cage by Kure. Kure maintains the clinch.

Hermano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hermano fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kure.
Kure is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kure gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hermano.

Hermano avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kure lands a nice looking body shot.
Hermano feints and then cracks Kure's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kure down.
Hermano tries a head kick but it misses.
Kure tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hermano paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kure rushes Hermano and presses him up against the cage.
Hermano lands a nice uppercut.
Hermano swings wildly with an uppercut but Kure uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hermano gets through Kure's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kure stalling.
Kure wants to take the fight to the mat but Hermano manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Kure breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hermano throws a hook but Kure avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hermano throws a leg kick that is checked

and Kure counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kure.
Kure trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kure wants to control from the top but Hermano keeps moving.

Hermano is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kure throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hermano works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kure working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hermano pulls Kure in to control the position.
Kure throws a big elbow that misses.
Kure is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kure clinches with his opponent.
Kure goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hermano prevents it.
Hermano misses with a punch on the inside.
A nice left hand lands by Hermano.
Hermano pushes Kure back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Kure has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Hermano seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Kure can turn it around.

Hermano manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pelle Hermano dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hermano jabs Kure right on the nose. Kure blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Krejzi Kure has been cut.
Kure wants to clinch up but Hermano keeps it at a distance.
Hermano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kure can do to turn this around?

Kure darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kure seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hermano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hermano is looking for a sweep. Kure is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hermano is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kure pulls his head out easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kure wants to free his trapped foot but Hermano is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kure is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kure is trying to control the action in half guard but Hermano is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Kure perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kure shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hermano sprawls well. Hermano wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kure gets slowly back to his feet.
Kure fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hermano manages to avoid it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hermano instigates a clinch.
Hermano throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kures head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hermano.
Hermano struggles to land a body shot inside as Kure controls his hands.
A right handed body shot lands from Hermano.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Hermano.
Hermano misses with some punches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hermano creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Hermano tries to work over Kure's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Kure is looking for a takedown.

Kure is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

That kick from Hermano tenderised Kure's leg. Kure is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kure moves forwards but Hermano connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hermano misses with an uppercut. Kure saw that one coming.
Kure looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hermano is fending him off so far but Kure persists. Nope, Hermano circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kure.
Hermano appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Kure drops his hands momentarily and Hermano takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kure takes a swing at Hermano's ribcage but misses.
Hermano connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Hermano tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kure wants to counter the offense by Hermano and move into the clinch position.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Hermano. No joy for Kure on that attempt.
Hermano catches Kure with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kure moves out of range of the strikes.
Despite the aggression on Kure's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Kure feints and as Hermano raises his hands in defense, Kure changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kure throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hermano works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kure throws an elbow that misses. Hermano uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kure's guard. Nice move by Hermano!
Kure is trying to control the position but Hermano postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hermano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kure swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kure doesn't manage to clinch there - Hermano circles away.

Kure looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hermano wants to control but Kure is keeping busy.
Hermano is trying to get back to full guard.

Hermano is not content to let Kure control the position.
Hermano is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kure's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kure's back!

What can Kure do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Hermano has the hooks in. Kure is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Hermano is striking from the back but Kure escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
Krejzi Kure has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hermano is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kure doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hermano.
Hermano lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Kure is not content to let Hermano control the position.
Nice strikes from Hermano there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kure throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pelle Hermano showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hermano, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
