PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Zinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Everything in its right place. Zinn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by All Day. Martin Zinn is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, James Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Martin Zinn!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zinn throws a push kick but Penn slaps the foot to one side.
Penn throws a lazy uppercut
and Zinn counters with a left to the body.
Zinn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Penn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheers as Penn lands an impressive looking overhand right. Zinn doesn't seem phased though.
Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Penn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Penn looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Zinn clinches up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn blocks a body shot from Zinn.
Penn is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Zinn pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Zinn working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Penn jumps guard but Zinn stands there with Penn around his waist. Penn gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

It looks like James Penn has been cut.
Penn's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Zinn is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Penn wants the takedown. Zinn is fighting it off but Penn persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Zinn's guard against the cage.

Zinn is looking to stand up but Penn isn't so interested in that idea.
Zinn wants to control the position but Penn says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Penn passes the guard and advances to mount!
Zinn tries to improve his position but instead Penn has taken his back!

Penn looking to break Zinn's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Zinn remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Penn will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Zinn tries to roll but Penn sticks to his back.
Zinn is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Penn off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Zinn just trying to survive but Penn is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Zinn is trying to stand back up.
Zinn surviving as best he can, preventing damage.
Penn somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Zinn trying to get back to his feet but Penn is in full control for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn has the hooks in. Zinn is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Penn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Zinn throws an elbow that misses. Penn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Zinn's guard. Nice move by Penn!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Penn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Zinn is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
You can see the frustration on Zinn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Penn is looking to take a break and control but Zinn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Zinn is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Penn off and has taken his back!
Our spies down at at Kombat MMA inform us that Zinn has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Zinn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Penn lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Zinn is looking to clinch but Penn is avoiding it.
Zinn just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromPenn.
Penn cracks Zinn with a good jab.
A combination from Zinn does no damage.
A slow jab from Penn misses its intended target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

James Penn showed his dominance in that final round.
