Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jimbo Stapelstaden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antonio Kingston! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stapelstaden misses with the combination.
Kingston tries to clinch but Stapelstaden moves out of range. Stapelstaden fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Danga de danga de dang - Stapelstaden scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Antonio Kingston has been cut. Kingston shoots in and drives through. Stapelstaden sprawls well. Kingston misses with a two punch combination.
Stapelstaden with a nice cross. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stapelstaden avoids a kick to the body.
Kingston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Stapelstaden uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. No joy there for Stapelstaden, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kingston throws a head kick but Stapelstaden moves out of range.
Stapelstaden throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Kingston tumbling to the canvas!
Kingston is rocked!
That has opened up Antonio Kingston's cut even more. Stapelstaden prevents Kingston from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kingston looks gassed! Stapelstaden sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kingston avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Stapelstaden controls from within his opponent's guard. Stapelstaden throwing strikes but missing. Stapelstaden has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Stapelstaden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Stapelstaden has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kingston wants to stand up but Stapelstaden is controlling him. Stapelstaden throwing strikes from guard but Kingston blocks nicely. Stapelstaden in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Stapelstaden throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stapelstaden looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Kingston wants to stand up but Stapelstaden is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kingston misses with a takedown attempt - Stapelstaden sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Stapelstaden drops Kingston with a nice combination! Stapelstaden dives into Kingston's guard, looking to finish!
Kingston is still in real trouble! Can Stapelstaden finish him? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Stapelstaden sitting in guard here, content to control. Kingston seems to have recovered his senses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stapelstaden working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kingston's head. Kingston is looking to stand back up but Stapelstaden counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kingston. Stapelstaden content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Stapelstaden landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stapelstaden performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimbo Stapelstaden dominated that round. The cut man is working on Antonio Kingston's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Good exchange - Stapelstaden coming out on top.
The cut above Antonio Kingston's eye is starting to cause him problems now. A good leg kick by Kingston. Stapelstaden throws a right and a left that both miss. Jimbo Stapelstaden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stapelstaden lands a right hook to the body.
A slow jab from Stapelstaden misses its intended target. Kingston throws a body kick that misses. Stapelstaden bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Stapelstaden fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Kingston on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Antonio Kingston's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Good shot there by Stapelstaden.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Antonio Kingston's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
