Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Safforn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watson has chosen How Much For One Rib? as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abraham Safforn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mason Watson!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Safforn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watson's waist but Watson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Safforn off to one side.
Safforn shoots in for a double leg but Watson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Watson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Safforn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Watson misses with a low kick.
Watson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Safforn circles away quickly and effectively.

Watson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Safforn did well to prevent Watson getting side control.

Watson is working for a submission of some sort.
Safforn is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at New Breed MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Watson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Safforn is positioning himself well to prevent Watson advancing to mount.
Watson lands with a punch from half guard.

Watson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Safforn sees it coming and defends easily.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Watson working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Safforn is trying to maintain the position but Watson is very close to passing his half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Safforn gets full guard.
Safforn wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Watson is now in half guard.
Safforn trying to control from the bottom.
Safforn is looking for a sweep. Watson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Watson throwing shots but Safforn is blocking nicely.
Safforn is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Safforn is looking for a sweep. Watson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Safforn lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Mason Watson has been cut.
Watson misses with a few strikes there.
Safforn throws a left and a right that both miss

and Watson counters with a shoot takedown. Safforn fights it but they end up in guard.
Safforn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Watson throws an elbow that misses. Safforn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Watson's guard. Nice move by Safforn!

Watson looking for a guillotine here but Safforn defends easily.

Safforn trying to control the position from guard on top but Watson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Watson controls Safforn momentarily but Safforn frees himself.

Watson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Safforn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Watson.
Watson is looking to reverse the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Safforn landing a few strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Watson dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Watson misses with the combination.
Safforn lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Watson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Safforn tries to avoid it but Watson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Safforn to the ground. Safforn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Watson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Safforn to the ground. Watson is now in Safforn's guard.

Safforn keeping hold of Watson's head, controlling as best he can.

It looks like Abraham Safforn has been cut.
Safforn tries to roll over but Watson keeps him under control.
Mason Watson has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Safforn works the jab nicely.

Safforn lands a high kick!
Safforn slaps away a takedown attempt from Watson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Watson misses with a wild combination.
Safforn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Watson swivels and escapes.
And Watson tries to counter it with a takedown but Safforn pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Safforn wants to clinch.
Safforn showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Watson.

Safforn stuns Watson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Watson checks a low kick from Safforn.
Watson feints the counter takedown.
Safforn misses the shot to the body.
Abraham Safforn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Safforn cracks Watson with a good jab.
Watson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Watson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Safforn.
Watson avoids the body shot from Safforn.
Safforn lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Watson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Safforn defends well and Watson ends up having to push Safforn into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Abraham Safforn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Watson.

Watson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Safforn's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Abraham Safforn will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Watson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Watson counters with a three punch combo that has Safforn backing up. Safforn nods at Watson to acknowledge the strikes.

A very excited looking Abraham Safforn made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
