Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arial Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arial Jones! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Cooper! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones throws the left hand but Cooper avoids the punch easily. Cooper looks to land a body kick but Jones moved away. Cooper tries to clinch up. Jones appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Cooper closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage. Jones lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cooper backwards. Cooper swings wildly with an uppercut but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it. Jones blocks the elbow strike.
Jones manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cooper looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jones tries to counter with a takedown but Cooper is quick to defend against it. Jones lands with an overhand left. Cooper fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cooper closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Cooper blocking some punches.

Jones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Cooper is leaning against Jones and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Cooper told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Cooper lands with a short head shot on the inside. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones pulls guard successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cooper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cooper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jones keeping moving, preventing Cooper from controlling successfully. Jones trying to control the position.
Cooper controls from within his opponent's guard. Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jones is looking for a triangle here but Cooper uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Cooper controls the position. Cooper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jones to his feet. Cooper closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage. Jones softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Jones misses with some punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cooper lands an elbow inside.
It looks like Arial Jones has been cut. A short right from Jones. Cooper throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jones makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Jones lands a nice uppercut. Jones breaks the clinch.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Jones lands with a short punch from the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Cooper throws an elbow but misses. Cooper's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. A short right from Jones. A right handed body shot lands from Jones.

Nice elbow from Cooper. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones lands with a short head shot on the inside. Jones throws a punch but it's blocked by Cooper. Jones misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Cooper just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jones's brow. Jones stalling in the clinch but Cooper improves position. Jones misses with the head strike.
Jones lands with a right to the head. Cooper lands an elbow just above Jones 's eye. Jones lands a big right hand that drops Cooper! The killer instinct kicks in and Jones finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Jones!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Arial Jones! Arial Jones is the new middleweight champion! After winning the bout, Arial Jones thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
