PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Mc Donnagh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Horse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mc Donnagh is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Crazy Horse has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimmy Mc Donnagh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Crazy Horse!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horse throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mc Donnagh counters with a one-two to the body.
Mc Donnagh is breathing heavily.
Mc Donnagh showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Horse.

Horse fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mc Donnagh to the ground. Horse is now in Mc Donnagh's guard.
Horse content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mc Donnagh avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Horse drives through with a takedown into guard.
Horse sitting in guard here, content to control.

Horse stands up from Mc Donnagh's guard - Horse perhaps looking for a knockout.

Horse clinches up with Mc Donnagh and pushes him back against the cage.
Mc Donnagh tries to pull guard but Horse won't allow it.

Horse decides to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Horse holds on and takes a little breather.
Horse's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Mc Donnagh takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Horse has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mc Donnagh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Horse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mc Donnagh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mc Donnagh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Horse has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mc Donnagh off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Horse closes the distance and clinches.
A knee to the head by Horse.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Horse lands a hook that snaps the head of Mc Donnagh backwards.

Horse breaks from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Horse dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Horse shoots in looking for a takedown. Mc Donnagh tries to sprawl out of it but Horse keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mc Donnagh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Horse darts in and clinches Mc Donnagh up against the cage.

Horse ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Horse no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Horse tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Horse looking for subs off his back but Mc Donnagh has passed one foot through into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horse is trying is best to control the position here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Horse is looking for a sweep. Mc Donnagh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Horse keeps trying to improve his position.
Horse is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jimmy Mc Donnagh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horse fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Horse shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mc Donnagh is trying to defend but Horse finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Horse lands strikes from half guard.
Horse controlling the pace.
Mc Donnagh won't allow Horse to pass to mount.
Horse trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Horse tries to pass to full mount but Mc Donnagh defends it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Horse decides to stand and escape the position.

Horse has closed the distance and engaged Mc Donnagh in a clinch.

Horse manages to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horse is controlling Mc Donnagh's posture.
Horse trying to keep a closed guard but Mc Donnagh is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Horse working for a triangle but Mc Donnagh defends it easily.
Horse wants to get back to his feet but Mc Donnagh is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Horse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Horse manages to break the clinch.
Horse thuds his shin into the meat of Mc Donnagh's side.

Horse looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Horse seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Horse is continuing to stall.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horse with a flurry of punches that miss.
Horse trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Mc Donnagh is working an open guard so Horse takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Horse throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mc Donnagh takes a kick to the side of the head.

Horse rushes Mc Donnagh and presses him up against the cage.
Horse pressing his opponent against the cage.

Horse jumps guard and drags Mc Donnagh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Horse throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Horse pushes Mc Donnagh off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Horse moves into range and clinches up with Mc Donnagh.

Horse gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Horse wants to work for an arm triangle but Mc Donnagh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Horse perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Horse decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mc Donnagh tries to sprawl but Horse drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Mc Donnagh kicks Horse off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Horse throws a body shot but no joy.
Mc Donnagh tries to bum rush Horse with a series of wild strikes but Horse uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jimmy Mc Donnagh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
No luck for Horse with that takedown attempt.
Mc Donnagh will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horse has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Horse instigates a clinch.
Jimmy Mc Donnagh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Crazy Horse is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Horse lands a body punch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Crazy Horse comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Horse has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
