Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Motson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Motson wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance. Jackson cracks Motson with an open hand slap. Motson is looking to clinch. Motson wants to clinch but Jackson slips to the side enabling Jackson to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like John Motson has been cut. Motson takes one to the chin there. A decent looking cross lands there for Jackson. Jackson connects with a right hand. Motson shakes it off. Motson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jackson throws a hook but Motson avoids it easily. Jackson lands a jab to Motson's midsection. Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Motson slips the punch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Motson tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range. Motson tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range. Jackson throws a right hand that Motson ducks under and follows up with a left that Motson also avoids with ease. Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Motson moves away. Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Motson slips the punch. Motson tries to counter by clinching up but Jackson breaks away and moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Motson blocks a jab. Motson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jackson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Motson scrambles back to his feet. Jackson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Motson is looking to clinch. Motson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jackson to score with a decent uppercut. Jackson connects with a right that clearly hurt Motson. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Jackson proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Motson collapses and taps out under the pressure!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Quinton Jackson! Quinton Jackson bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
